VISA and MasterCard Scam – Beware

This morning I want to inform you about another scam that was brought to my notice. This one involves Visa and MasterCard credit cards.

There is a fake email doing the rounds and it carries a panicky subject line – “Important Notice to all Debit Card Users”. It also has an attached .html file. The mail instructs users to download the attached file and fill it up for the purpose of security updates for their accounts.

Once executed, the downloaded file looks like this:

It is just a replica of the original page which is getting executed from your machine. As soon as you click on “Update your Account” it will redirect you to the following phishing link with online forms to fill:

After clicking on the ‘Complete’ tab, it will prompt you as below:

If you click on the OK tab, it will take you to the genuine website of VISA.

This will convince users that everything is fine. But in reality, all the confidential data of the user gets transferred to the attacker.
