Also with regards to your questions, we cannot accurately say how long it would take to track a laptop. It all depends on how often traces are found. Do you mean is it necessary to register a complaint with the police? Yes you certainly must do that. This is after all a case of theft and a laptop is a highly sensitive and expensive item so you need to involve the police in this, no matter how unhelpful they may seem. At the same time, our ‘Track My Laptop’ service will also be at work and get traces of your machine if it connects to the Internet. If you have registered on the Quick Heal Track My Laptop portal, then there is nothing more we can do as of now. Whenever your stolen laptop connects to the Internet, you will get a notification with an update about the same. Apart from that, there is not much else that can be done by us. If you have signed up with Track my Laptop, then you will get an update when the laptop actually connects to the net. If this does not happen, there is no way of knowing where the laptop is currently located. You will receive a notification as soon as we get any information about the same.

My Laptop was stolen on 18th of october while travelling in bus. After consulting with the bus conductor i guess it was stolen very early in the morning somewhere around etawah district of uttar pradesh while i was travelling to agra and fall asleep. I have already lodged an FIR with the police and contacted Dell as it was their make and they provided me with the MAC ID.
