Beware of this fake WhatsApp message. It’s a scam!

If you receive the below WhatsApp message, you might feel an irresistible itch to click on the link. But, don’t! Because it’s a scam.

Cybercriminals are now tricking WhatsApp users by piggybacking on the Amazon Black Friday Sale. As shown above, the fake WhatsApp message urges the user to buy an iPhone 6s (Space Grey, 64GB) just for 2,999/- before the sale ends. When we tried accessing this site by clicking on the link, both Firefox and Chrome blocked it. And the below message popped out as a warning that the website can trick us into installing software (potentially malicious or harmful) or revealing our personal information like passwords, credit/debit card information, etc.

So, what’s the message here?

1. Remember the saying “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”. It means everything has a price.

2. Ask yourself, why would anyone or any website give away a device as expensive as an iPhone 6s for 2999/-.

3. Never respond to such messages no matter how inviting they look or sound, especially if they urge you to click on links or download any attachments.

4. If you come across any such exciting or unbelievable offers, go to the official website (amazon.in/amazon.com in this case) and verify if the news is true.

5. Most importantly, do not forward such messages to your friends or peers. By doing so, you are only helping criminals succeed in their nefarious purpose of robbing people.

Share this post with your friends, if you think it is helpful. Stay safe!

Sir your article is usefull. I always ignore this type of messages. Not only attractive offer but some messages like free internet or whatts app gold version for selected person also comes through social media. If whatts app providing like this version why they do not providing on playstore, we should consider over self. Public have also consider about some scam like this, otherwise cheater have easy way to cheat them.

yes i experienced something like this
i was going to purchase it when i suddenly noticed that the URL had http://www.amazone.com instead of http://www.amazon.com
it means that there was an extra ‘e’
it was the that i realized that it was a fake site
plus it told me to download 9 Apps and keep them for three days which truly seemed suspicious
so i informed my friends of this fake site
