Hype around ‘Dark Knight Rises’ attracts malicious parties

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight Rises’ releases on July 20th and promises to be one of the most popular movies of all time. It is the final chapter of Nolan’s Batman trilogy and is sure to attract millions of viewers and search queries over the web. Inevitably, there will be a large number of people who will come across various URLs and pirated versions of the film and will be tempted to click on such links.

We strongly recommend that our users refrain from visiting such pages as they could contain several malicious files. Drive-by downloads are malicious files that automatically enter a system as soon as someone visits a corrupted website. Attackers will not hesitate to use any means possible to attract people to such pages. Users should also be wary of phishing scams that may ask for personal information in return for some free tickets or gifts.

Additionally, users should also steer clear from pirated downloads of the Dark Knight Rises. These are illegal downloads and could also contain several hidden security threats. We suggest that users enjoy the movie in theaters instead.
